| Plean
Country Park is starting to become one of the most visited and popular
local country parks in Central Scotland, especially considering there are
no amenities such as restaurants, golf courses or a visitor centre
situated in the park.
The main work that has been done was focused on cleaning up the roads and paths and trying to rehabilitate the natural countryside where the coal mining bings used to be. This also means that protection and nurturing of wildlife is high on the agenda for day to day park work. The one really good thing about
Plean Country Park is that there is a realistic balance between
facilitating public access to all of the park and making sure that natural
resources and wildlife are supported. |

The
beautiful and varied woodlands provide homes provide homes for many birds
and animals. When you are walking your way through the park you will
hear woodpecker calls, see deer running up the hills towards the bings and
see lots of squirrels playing in the treetops.
There are numerous bird boxes to help the many different kinds of birds nest and breed. There are also quite a few bat boxes attached to the trees. As part of the balance between nature and making the park nice for visitors, you can see some really good artwork when doing the walks near the house. Below you will see a great example of this. |
